In Baja California Sur, Mexico there are 63 rural communities off the electricity grid, a situation that impedes the social and economic development of the locality because they do not have permanent electricity.

Based on the diagnosis that CERCA conducted last year in 14 of these communities to understand their needs in terms of electricity, it showed the urgency on the part of the population to have autonomous systems, capable of being operated by themselves through the development of capabilities. Systems that provide connectivity, cooling, entertainment and home solutions.

The project includes working with different local sectors, such as academia and science, for the manufacture and implementation of renewable energy kiosks in rural, fishing and agricultural communities that are in conditions of high and very high marginalization. This will have a positive impact on reducing the inequality gap that exists between rural and urban communities as well as energy poverty.
